Melissa (Chapman) Magee
PURE Instructor
Melissa is a bilingual Project Manager and former Program Director with over 15 years of experience managing people and projects. Her expertise spans international nonprofit and educational leadership, project portfolio management, implementation and optimization project management, and managing multilingual teams of over 100. She resides in Oregon and loves to spend time hiking and backpacking in the Pacific Northwest.
As the first Project Manager at her company, Melissa designed and implemented essential templates and processes across the organization. She co-founded and leads an Enterprise Steering Committee, working to improve internal processes through gap analysis and collaboration with executive leaders. She works closely with cross-functional leaders to fine-tune processes and eliminate inefficiencies, enhancing satisfaction for both clients and employees. Currently, she is spearheading the launch of the first PMO at her company.
Melissa is the co-creator and instructor of Better Career’s PM Accelerator Program, a five-module program providing career changers with coaching on project management skills and tools, job searching strategies, and 35 education hours to qualify for the PMP exam.
While pivoting from education to project management, she found there weren't a lot of resources for "non-traditional" project managers, and she wanted to change that. She wrote an ebook/guide on the PMP application process, helping hundreds successfully apply and get accepted to take the PMP exam.
Today, Melissa shares her career pivot journey and how she successfully transitioned out of the classroom into project management to help others take the steps to transform their careers and lives. She offers free resources and has started coaching former teachers and people who want to pivot into project management. She provides resume reviews, PMP application help, and career coaching sessions.
